TideDispatch: The Managed Publishing Platform Built for Caribbean Newsrooms
Migration, managed hosting and editorial tools in one stack, run by the WebOps team. CANANews already publishes on it.
Built for newsrooms without a developer on staff
TideDispatch is for regional newsrooms, wire services and media houses that publish every day, carry years of archive, and have nobody whose job is the website. If one person understands how your site holds together, or your archive sits on a host your team cannot easily reach, this is the problem we take on.
You keep the journalism, the sections and the voice. We run the platform it publishes on.
Everything a daily newsroom needs, already wired together
The editorial desk
A checklist runs every time a story is published. It confirms the featured image, the section, a minimum length and alt text on the images, and it runs on the server, so it applies however the story is published. Editors open WordPress to a desk of their own: their drafts, stories waiting for review, what has gone out today, and which story leads the front page. They pin the front-page headline from the story itself.
The front page and sections
A newspaper-style masthead with the dateline, search and a subscribe button, condensed as the reader scrolls. Your sections sit in the navigation, and press releases get a section of their own. The layout is built for phones as much as for desktops.
Readers and advertising
Reader accounts, and a registration meter that sets how many stories a reader gets before signing in. A newsletter sign-up on every page. We build ad positions into your page layouts for your direct campaigns, with AdSense filling the gaps, and rules for which readers see which ads. Search engines and the AdSense crawler read the full story behind the meter.
Search and discovery
Site search that works on a phone. A sitemap, structured data on stories and valid feeds, with Google Search Console set up for your domain.
Your old site keeps publishing until the day you switch
-
We map what you have.
Stories, images, sections and the addresses your readers already use.
-
We build the new site on TideDispatch
while your current site carries on as normal.
-
Your archive comes across in rounds.
Stories and images are imported and checked against the old site, with duplicates screened out.
-
Images move to a media domain of their own,
and old stories that pointed at your old host's images are rewritten to the new address.
-
We rehearse the switch
on the new site before the day itself.
-
Switch day.
A final import brings over the latest stories, the new site goes live, and your old domain forwards to the new one with permanent redirects mapped to your old addresses. Anything filed on the old site in the meantime is caught up. We check the main pages on phone and desktop, the images on them and the feeds.
-
Launch week.
Your team has a dedicated support ticket while everyone settles in.
We take a snapshot before changes to your live site and keep a written record of each one.
We run the servers. Your team runs the newsroom.
TideDispatch runs on WebOps Hosting, which has run managed WordPress hosting for 18 years.
- Speed: LiteSpeed servers with page caching.
- Security: real-time intrusion detection and malware defence, a web application firewall, brute-force protection, and live kernel patching.
- Backups: off-site backups, plus a snapshot before changes to your live site.
- Updates and monitoring: we apply the updates and watch the site.
- People: a person reads every message. Support runs 9:00 to 17:00 Eastern, seven days a week, with a reply within one support day. For emergencies, call or text +1 (302) 219-4769 at any hour; we aim to respond within one hour.
CANANews moved onto TideDispatch on 19 October 2026
CANANews, the Caribbean regional newswire, publishes on TideDispatch. We moved its archive of stories and images from cananewsonline.com to cananews.com while the old site kept publishing. Old cananewsonline.com links now forward to the same story on cananews.com.
Readers get a front page led by the editors’ pick. The newsroom gets a publish checklist, its own editor dashboard and a support team that answers.
FAQ
Do we keep our archive?
Yes. Stories and images come across in checked rounds.
Will our old links still work?
Yes. We map your old addresses to the new site and forward them with permanent redirects. Old cananewsonline.com story links now open the same story on cananews.com.
Does our site go dark during the move?
No. Your current site keeps publishing while we build and import. On switch day we bring over whatever was filed last, then switch.
Who keeps the site patched and backed up?
We do. Updates, security, backups and monitoring are part of the platform.
Do our editors need training?
TideDispatch runs on WordPress, which most newsroom staff have used. Editors get a dashboard built around their desk.
Can we sell our own advertising?
Yes. We build ad positions into your page layouts for your direct campaigns, with AdSense filling the gaps.
What does it cost?
We quote each newsroom on its size and what it needs. Tell us about yours and we will come back with a proposal.
