MailPoet Premium: Effortless Email Marketing for WordPress Print

MailPoet is the email marketing plugin we recommend (and include) for WordPress sites that need to send newsletters, automated emails, or transactional campaigns directly from their WordPress dashboard. Every WebOps Hosting plan includes the MailPoet Premium agency license plus the sending infrastructure to actually deliver emails reliably, no separate Mailchimp or ConvertKit account required.

Why MailPoet Instead of Mailchimp / ConvertKit / Brevo?

External services like Mailchimp work, but they have real friction:

  • Separate platform to learn: every campaign means leaving your site, logging into another tool, exporting and re-importing subscribers, building emails in their builder rather than yours
  • Per-subscriber pricing that scales painfully: a 5,000-subscriber list on Mailchimp's basic plan starts around $75/month. The same list on MailPoet costs nothing extra on WebOps
  • Subscriber data lives off-site: when you decide to leave or change tools, exporting and migrating subscriber history is its own project
  • WooCommerce / form integration is plugin-by-plugin: every form on your site needs its own connector or webhook to push leads to the external service

MailPoet flips this. Subscribers live in your WordPress database. Campaigns are built in the WordPress block editor (the same editor you already know from Posts and Pages). Forms hook into MailPoet natively. WooCommerce purchases create subscribers automatically. And there is no per-subscriber tier creeping up as your list grows.

Sending Infrastructure (Handled For You)

The hard part of email marketing is actually delivering email to inboxes, not building it. Cheap or free email plugins typically use the WordPress server's basic mail function, which gets flagged by Gmail and Outlook as suspicious within a few hundred sends. Real deliverability requires an authenticated sending service.

WebOps configures MailPoet to use the MailPoet Sending Service by default. Our agency plan includes unlimited sending for lists of up to 1,000 subscribers, with reputation, authentication, and deliverability handled by MailPoet's own infrastructure. What this gets you:

  • Zero-config setup: no SMTP credentials to manage, no separate sending account to create, no DNS records to copy and paste. We turn it on when your site is provisioned
  • SPF, DKIM, and DMARC alignment: handled by the MailPoet Sending Service so your mail authenticates correctly with every major inbox provider
  • Reputation managed for you: shared sending IPs that MailPoet actively monitors and protects, with bounce and complaint handling baked in
  • Unlimited sends up to 1,000 subscribers: covered by our agency plan with no per-email cost. Lists larger than 1,000 may need an upgraded MailPoet sending tier or a switch to Amazon SES (which we can also configure)

You do not need to know any of this. We set it up when your site is provisioned and maintain it. You just write and send.

If your list outgrows 1,000 subscribers, you have options: stay on MailPoet's sending service at a higher tier, or switch to Amazon SES (which we can also configure for you and which has its own pricing model based on volume). Open a ticket and we'll walk you through the choice.

What You Can Do With MailPoet

The capability covers most newsletter and lifecycle email scenarios:

  • Newsletters and broadcasts: regular updates to your subscriber list, designed in the block editor, scheduled or sent immediately
  • Welcome sequences: automated emails when someone subscribes (welcome, day 3 follow-up, week 1 check-in)
  • Post notifications: send a digest of new blog posts on a schedule (daily, weekly, monthly), assembled automatically
  • WooCommerce automations: abandoned cart recovery, post-purchase follow-ups, win-back sequences for lapsed customers
  • Segmentation: send to subsets of your list based on tags, signup source, purchase history, or custom criteria
  • Subscription forms: native MailPoet forms, plus integration with Gravity Forms, Elementor Forms, JetFormBuilder, and most popular form plugins

Pricing Comparison

List Size Mailchimp Standard MailPoet on WebOps
500 subscribers~$20/monthIncluded
1,000 subscribers~$30/monthIncluded (sending capped at 1,000)
2,500 subscribers~$50/monthPlugin included; sending tier upgrade required
5,000 subscribers~$75/monthPlugin included; sending tier upgrade required
10,000+ subscribers$110+/monthPlugin included; switch to Amazon SES recommended

The MailPoet Premium plugin license itself is included on every WebOps plan, regardless of list size, so you skip the retail Premium subscription. The sending side is what scales: under 1,000 subscribers is fully covered by our agency plan, and above 1,000 we help you choose between a higher MailPoet tier or Amazon SES depending on your volume and budget. The cost is still typically lower than Mailchimp at every tier.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is MailPoet as good as Mailchimp at deliverability?

The plugin itself is independent of deliverability. What matters is the sending infrastructure behind it. Configured with the MailPoet Sending Service (which we do by default), MailPoet's deliverability is on par with Mailchimp for most sender categories. The variable that hurts deliverability most is content (spammy subject lines, low engagement), and that's true on every platform.

Can I migrate my Mailchimp list to MailPoet?

Yes. Export your Mailchimp subscribers as a CSV, import into MailPoet, and map the fields. We can help with this if you have a complex setup with custom fields, automations, or segmentation rules to migrate. Open a ticket and we'll guide you through it.

What happens if I leave WebOps?

Your subscriber list lives in your WordPress database, so it stays with your site. The MailPoet plugin itself is free at the basic tier; the Premium features (which require a license) include the more advanced automations and unlimited subscribers. If you move hosts, you would either need a Premium license or downgrade to free MailPoet at that point.

Is there a sending limit?

Yes. Our agency plan covers unlimited sending for lists of up to 1,000 subscribers. Most clients are well within this. If your list is larger or growing past 1,000, you have two paths: stay on the MailPoet Sending Service at a higher tier (we'll quote it for you), or switch to Amazon SES, which we can configure as an alternative sending backend.

Does it work with WooCommerce?

Yes, deeply. Customer signup, order completion, abandoned cart, and other WooCommerce events can all trigger MailPoet automations. It's one of the most common pairings on our hosting.

Need Help Setting It Up?

The basic setup is automated as part of your WebOps onboarding. If you want help building a specific campaign, migrating from another service, or designing automations, our Content Operations team can handle it as a project.
