This guide explains how to configure your email account in Gmail through both the web interface and mobile app, plus how to use the "Send Mail as" feature.

Gmail Web Interface Setup

  1. Access Gmail Settings
    • Open Gmail in your web browser
    • Click the gear icon (Settings)
    • Select "See all settings"
    • Go to the "Accounts and Import" tab
  2. Add Email Account
    • In the "Check mail from other accounts" section
    • Click "Add a mail account"
    • Enter your email address
    • Click "Next"
  3. Configure Server Settings
    • Select "Import emails from my other account (POP3)"
    • Enter the following settings:
      • Username: your full email address
      • Password: your email password
      • POP Server: mail.yourdomain.com
      • Port: 995
      • Check "Always use a secure connection (SSL)"

Gmail Mobile App Setup

  1. Open Gmail App
    • Launch the Gmail app on your device
  2. Add Account
    • Tap your profile picture in the top right
    • Tap "Add another account"
    • Choose "Other"
  3. Enter Email Details
    • Type your email address
    • Tap "Next"
  4. Choose Account Type
    • Select IMAP for server-synced emails (recommended)
    • Enter your password
    • Tap "Next"
  5. Complete Setup
    • The app will automatically configure server settings
    • Choose sync options as desired
    • Tap "Next" to finish

Setting Up "Send Mail As"

  1. Access Settings
    • In Gmail web interface, go to Settings
    • Click "See all settings"
    • Select "Accounts and Import" tab
  2. Add Sending Address
    • In "Send mail as" section, click "Add another email address"
    • Enter your name and email address
    • Click "Next Step"
  3. Configure SMTP Settings
    • SMTP Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Port: 465
    • Username: your full email address
    • Password: your email password
    • Select "Secured connection using SSL"
    • Click "Add Account"
  4. Verify Ownership
    • Check your email for verification code
    • Enter the code in Gmail
    • Click "Verify"
  5. Optional Settings
    • Set as default sending address if desired
    • Configure reply-from address preferences

Manual Server Settings

If automatic configuration fails, use these settings:

  • Incoming Mail (IMAP)
    • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Port: 993
    • Security: SSL/TLS
    • Username: Your full email address
  • Outgoing Mail (SMTP)
    • Server: mail.yourdomain.com
    • Port: 465
    • Security: SSL/TLS
    • Username: Your full email address
