When you host your website with WebOps but keep your domain registered at GoDaddy, we may need access to update your DNS settings—for example, pointing your domain to our servers during a migration or setting up email authentication records.
GoDaddy's delegate access feature lets you grant us limited, revocable access without sharing your password.
What Access Level Do You Need to Grant?
| Situation | Access Level | What It Allows |
|---|---|---|
| Website or email migration | Products & Domains | Full domain management including transfers |
| DNS updates only | Domains | Nameservers and DNS records |
| Single domain only | Domains + Folder | Access limited to specific domain(s) |
If you're unsure, Domains access is sufficient for most DNS work and is the more conservative choice.
How to Grant Delegate Access
Step 1: Open Account Settings
Sign in to account.godaddy.com, click your name in the top-right corner, and select Account Settings.
Step 2: Find Delegate Access
Scroll down to the Delegate Access section and click it. If you don't see this option, look under the "Account" or "Security" tabs—GoDaddy occasionally reorganizes their interface.
Step 3: Invite Us
Click Invite to Access and enter:
- Name: WebOps Hosting
- Email: support [at] webops [dot] host
- Access Level: Choose based on the table above
Step 4: Confirm
GoDaddy will send us an invitation. Once we accept, let us know via support ticket and we'll proceed with the DNS changes.
Limiting Access to Specific Domains
If you have multiple domains at GoDaddy but only want us to access certain ones:
- Go to My Products → All Products and Services → Domains
- Click Create Folder and add the relevant domain(s)
- When granting delegate access, select that folder instead of all domains
See GoDaddy's guide: Create a Domain Folder
Frequently Asked Questions
What can WebOps do with delegate access?
Only what the access level permits. With "Domains" access, we can update DNS records and nameservers. We cannot make purchases, access billing information, or transfer domains without additional authorization.
Can I revoke access later?
Yes. Go back to Account Settings → Delegate Access, find WebOps Hosting in the list, and click Remove. Access ends immediately.
Is this safe?
Delegate access is GoDaddy's official method for granting third-party access. It's more secure than sharing your password because you control exactly what we can access and can revoke it anytime.
GoDaddy's interface looks different from these instructions
GoDaddy updates their interface periodically. The delegate access feature is always available—if you can't find it, try searching "delegate access" in GoDaddy's help center or contact us and we'll help you locate it.
Need Help?
If you're not comfortable with the process or run into issues, submit a support ticket. We can walk you through it via screen share or discuss alternative approaches like temporary password sharing through a secure channel.
