If your domain is managed through Squarespace (including domains migrated from Google Domains), you can grant us access to manage DNS settings on your behalf. This guide walks you through adding our team as a contributor to your Squarespace account.
Before You Start
You'll need:
- Access to the Squarespace account that owns the domain
- Owner or Administrator permissions on that account
- Our support email: support@webops.host
Step 1: Log Into Squarespace
Go to account.squarespace.com and sign in. If your domain was migrated from Google Domains, use the same credentials you used for Google Domains.
Step 2: Open Account Settings
Click your profile icon in the top-right corner, then select Account Settings (or Settings depending on your view).
Step 3: Navigate to Permissions
Look for Permissions or Contributors in the settings menu. This is where you manage who has access to your account.
Step 4: Invite a Contributor
- Click Invite Contributor (or similar button)
- Enter our email: support@webops.host
- For access level, select Administrator or the highest level that includes domain management
- Click Send Invite
We'll receive an email invitation and accept it, typically within one business day.
What Access Level Do We Need?
To manage your DNS records and domain settings, we need permissions that allow:
- Viewing and editing DNS records
- Updating nameservers
- Configuring domain forwarding
In Squarespace, this typically requires Administrator access. Lower permission levels may not include domain management capabilities.
After We Have Access
Once we accept the invitation, we can:
- Point your domain to your WebOps-hosted website
- Configure email DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM)
- Set up subdomains
- Troubleshoot DNS propagation issues
You retain full ownership of your domain. You can revoke our access at any time by removing us from the Contributors list.
Trouble Finding the Right Settings?
Squarespace occasionally updates their interface, so menu names may vary slightly. If you can't find the Permissions or Contributors section:
- Try searching "permissions" or "contributors" in Squarespace's help
- Look under Account Settings rather than individual site settings
- Contact us and we can walk you through it via screen share
